About Chaosmos

A small studio for calm, clever games.

Chaosmos is me, . I make calm, clever games one at a time, and play every build on my phone before it ships.

Tap the mark, or tilt your phone.

Chaos, then cosmos

Chaosmos is chaos and cosmos in one word. James Joyce used it in Finnegans Wake for a world that is disorder and order at once.

That is what a good puzzle feels like. Every level starts as a scatter of marbles, dots or arrows, and ends in an order you found yourself. The mark says the same thing: a ring half full of water, somewhere between empty and full.

What I make

Every game

How the levels are made

Nobody draws a level by hand. Each game makes its own, in four steps.

  1. GenerateA program builds thousands of candidate levels for each stage of a game.
  2. ProveA second program solves every one and finds the fewest moves it takes.
  3. CompareAnything that is a turned, mirrored or near copy of a chosen level is thrown away.
  4. OrderThe rest are put in an order where the difficulty never once drops.
How each game does it

What I hold to

CalmNo timers, no energy to wait for, no lives wall. A level you fail simply starts again.
FairEvery level is proven solvable before it ships, and a hint shows a good move without playing for you.
HonestAds only in the Android app, never during a puzzle, and one purchase turns them off for good. The games collect nothing themselves.
YoursEverything plays offline, and your progress stays on your phone.
