Learn Stitchfall in one room: run, jump, turn the pull
Stitchfall's rules, taught by its first room: collect the sewn buttons, turn gravity a quarter turn, run along the ceiling and walk out through the zipper.

Stitchfall is a platform adventure in a world sewn from cloth. You guide a young runner through rooms of linen, felt and thread, and you have one trick: you can turn gravity. Here is everything you need, taught by the very first room, The First Stitch.
The goal
Every room has a few sewn buttons and a zipper. The little meter in the top corner shows how many buttons you still need. Collect them all and the zipper opens. Walk into it and the next room begins.
Run and jump
On a phone, turn it sideways. Slide your thumb left or right to walk, swipe up to jump and swipe down to crouch. On a keyboard, A and D or the arrow keys walk, W, Up or Space jumps, and S or Down crouches.
A short tap of jump gives a small hop, and holding it gives the full arc. Crouching makes the runner small enough to slip under a low hem.
Turn the pull
Now the trick. Tap the playfield, or press Shift, and gravity turns a quarter turn. The runner falls toward what used to be a wall and lands standing on it.

Turn again and the ceiling becomes the floor. In The First Stitch a tall hem blocks the way along the floor, so the room asks you to do exactly that: turn twice and run along the ceiling, over the top of it.

Left and right still mean left and right on your screen, wherever the floor is. Jumping always pushes away from the surface under your feet, so on the ceiling you swipe down to jump.
What else the turn does
The same tap changes more than the floor. Some sewn bridges are only thread until you turn, and turn back to thread on the next turn. Timed seams open for a moment and close again. Weighted patches slide toward the new floor, and needle moths stop still for half a second. Each of these gets its own room before the game asks you to use two at once.
Pins and hits
The flower pins are checkpoints. Brush past one and it remembers you. If a needle or a cutter catches you, the runner comes apart into patches and thread for a beat, then gets sewn back together at the last pin. The buttons you already collected stay sewn on, so a hit only costs you a few seconds. R restarts the whole room if you would rather start clean.
Where to play
Stitchfall plays in your browser on a phone, a tablet or a computer, for free and with no ads. The first time you press Play on a phone, an illustrated guide shows every gesture, and Guide on the Home screen shows it again whenever you want.
